A LITTLE HISTORY OF ME
Nadine was born in London, England in the early 1980s. Her earliest art memories include using a brown crayon to colour in the skin on her and her sisters’ birthday cards – read into that what you will.Much later on, in 2012 Nadine was selected to be one of 12 artists selected to be on the Millennium Bridge while Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Diamond Jubilee River Pageant along the Thames River. This work was on display along with many other artists including the amazing David Hockney. In 2016 she published her first book, Illustrated Jamaican Proverbs: Vol I which is deeply connected to her earlier years. Over the years, Nadine has exhibited in various galleries in London.Given Nadine’s earliest art memories, it is no wonder that her work continues to heavily feature and tell the stories of girls and women with brown skin, seeking to expand space that will centre around the empowerment, joy and beauty of women from the African Diaspora.Nadine is currently working on her personal projects and private commissions. Nadine works from her home studio and teaches 11-19 year olds in a school in Bromley, Kent.
